The Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the Ministry of Education to take account of including the practical aspects of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’s life in the curriculum.
According to a directive issued by Prime Minister’s Office, the first phase of the Single National Curriculum (SNC pre-I-V) should be applied in all educational institutions from the academic session of 2021.
The reading of the Holy Quran for all Muslim students will be made compulsory, as per the SNC for pre-I-V level.
According to the government, some NGO’s are creating hurdles in the implementation of this initiative.
“Provinces may develop their textbooks in regional languages as per the prevailing practice while classroom instructions can be given in the language better understood by the students in particular areas/regions,” the directive read.
The directive also stated that all the text books of pre I-V should be converted into the Urdu language. Whereas, English, General Science and Mathematics would remain in English.
Private publishers will be permissible to develop their textbooks in the Single National Curriculum. They will have to seek an NOC from the concerned authorities in the respective provinces and areas.
