Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting today (Thursday) in Islamabad to address the reopening of institutions such as schools and universities from June 1.

Yesterday, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood chaired a meeting attended by all four chief ministers of the provinces. They suggested closing educational institutions until the circumstances of coronavirus are not regulated.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), however, has proposed that schools be opened to address the issues faced in education.

Shibli Faraz, the newly named Minister of Information, said on Tuesday that the lockdown can only be eased if the public takes adequate health measures to combat the dangerous disease and that can only happen if they remain at home.

“Whenever the lockdown eases, people should follow the SOPs and safety measures because we cannot afford a relapse of the pandemic,” he had said.

He also said the federal cabinet has agreed to contribute a month’s salary to the Corona Relief Fund of the Prime Minister.

Shibli Faraz added that, in the Supreme Court’s directions regarding the appointments in the Cabinet Division, all ministries were asked to provide details of the appointments made without approval by the previous governments, on which six or seven divisions submitted their reports.

He said the majority of the division had been given time in this respect and according to the study 76 people were unlawfully recruited.

The Minister of Information said a progress report was provided in which it was reported that 1376 decisions were made by the Cabinet and 86 percent of the points were implemented while 7 percent, i.e. 114, are being implemented.
