ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed sorrow over the horrific train accident in Ghotki on Monday morning which left 36 passengers dead and 40 others injured.
In a statement, PM Imran Khan asked the Minister for Railways to reach at the site of the accident and ensure medical assistance to injured and support for families of the dead.
He also ordered comprehensive investigation into railway safety fault lines.
The accident took place when two trains collided with each other near Ghotki district around 3:45 am.
According to Railways officials, Sir Syed Express collided with the Millat Express between Raiti and Obaro Railway stations and 14 boggies derailed.
The police sources said four boggies of Millat Express were completely destroyed in the accident and the death toll was feared to rise.
President Arif Alvi also expressed grief over the tragic incident. He prayed for the departed souls.
