PM Imran to seek vote of confidence from parliament on Mar 6

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said he would seek the vote of confidence from the parliament on March 6.

“I have no fear of losing my seat. Whether I am in the opposition or the government, I will not spare them. The PTI members who did not place trust in me should say it openly,” said PM Imran while addressing the nation through a live telecasted speech.

He said that if the nation understood the manner in which senate elections were held then they could understand the other ongoing issues as well.

“Despite the Supreme Court’s repeatedly saying that the ECP was responsible for free, transparent and fair elections, still the election commission did not hold open ballot elections,” he said.

He wondered that what kind of democracy it was that a senator was becoming senator through bribing. Money has been being used in Senate elections for 30/40 years, he maintained.

“When we floated bill regarding open ballot, all the opposition parties got united on secret ballot. For the last several decades, money is being used in Senate elections,” he said.

Imran Khan said that when in 2018 elections the PTI came to know about its party members’ being sold they expelled them.

“Since PTI came into power, corrupt mafia has become scared. The purpose behind formation of the PDM is to protect corruption. The corruption cases are of their own era. I told you that they would pressurize me for giving them NRO,” he said.

He said neither he would be blackmailed by the opposition, nor he would give them NRO. They tried to blackmail the government on the issue of FATF legislation as well, he said.
