ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that promotion of Pakistan’s unique identity locally and globally, and acquainting the youth with cultural heritage was the government’s priority.
He said this while chairing a meeting in Islamabad to discuss the role and revival of cinema industry for promotion of national identity, culture and heritage.
The prime minister directed the relevant ministries and departments to furnish a road-map for revival of film industry, promote cultural and societal values of the country.

He said cinema played a vital role to highlight social values and national heritage, besides providing quality and inexpensive entertainment to the people.
During the meeting, the PM was briefed on revival of the cinema industry and challenges confronting it and efforts to address those.
On this occasion, PM Imran Khan approved in principle measures to revive film Industry, promote our cultural and societal values. This was stated by SAPM on Information and Broadcasting Asim Saleem Bajwa in a tweet.
He said the prime minister, while chairing a meeting, also directed to improve production quality.
Meanwhile, Chairman Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan said a comprehensive, effective and useful policy for revival of the film industry will be implemented soon which will benefit our culture, national narrative and tourism.
He said the film industry had declined to this level because previous governments had done nothing to promote it.
