NOWSHERA: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday inaugurated newly constructed Azakhel Dry Port in Nowshera to boost trade activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“Pakistan has to be made a welfare state. Dry ports will boost trade and employments,” Imran Khan said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 510 million rupees project.
He said five million houses were being built under the Naya Pakistan Housing scheme which could be purchased by common men on installments. This housing scheme would run 40 industries of the country, he said.

Never in the 70 years’ history of Pakistan has money been spent on railway, he rued. He said upon completion of ML-I, citizens would be able to travel between Karachi and Peshawar in eight hours. “ML-I will bring revolutionary changes in Pakistan Railways,” he said.
“The number of railway tracks had been reduced from the tracks left by English colonial powers,” he added.
PM Imran said lands of railways would be made commercial to fulfill the losses of the department. Special stalls would be established at railway stations for women, he maintained.
He also said loans and scholarships were being provided to youth for skills development and establishing businesses.
According to official sources, the Dry Port that has been completed at a cost of 510 million rupees. It will boost trade and economic activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and entire region.
Railways Minister, Sheikh Rashid said Azakhel Dry Port project in Nowshera would help promote business and trade activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“It was longstanding demand of business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that has been fulfilled by the present elected government in line of their aspirations,” he said.
Sheikh Rashid said the government had also decided to open Nowshera-Dargai railways section that would help promote tourism in Malakand Division.
