Pine nuts price soar to Rs 7,500 per kilo. This price seems more like of precious metal’s one than a dry fruit. 

The price of pine nuts in Sialkot have soared and seem to be getting higher every day.

Pine nuts were being sold at Rs 6000 per kilo, but it recently jumped Rs 1500 more, costing it Rs 7,500 per kilo.

Pistachios and cashew nuts now cost Rs2,000 per kilo and peanuts–a national staple– have risen to Rs350 per kilo.

These prices are not only troubling  the consumers but it is also making difficult for the shopkeepers. They say that no one in buying their products. People come to their shops, ask the price of dry fruits, especially pine nuts, and then walk right out. Their stock of pine nut are rotting in the stacks.

Due to this, the shopkeepers are keeping a smaller amount of nuts at their shops.

These soaring prices have become an actual crisis and cases of pine nut theft have also been reported.
