New York’s Roosevelt 1,000-room hotel, which was opened in 1924 and is owned by Pakistan International Airlines, has been permanently shut down on 18th December 2020 due to the severe losses caused by the pandemic.

According to Patch.com, an American news and information platform, the hotel’s General Manager Marc Sternagel announced the closure of the hotel through an email sent to the government on Friday.

Earlier notification of the closure was declared in October that Roosevelt would be closed by the end of the year as the hotel’s management was unable to bear the loss in the time of covid-19.

Around 431 employees of Roosevelt hotel have lost their jobs with this closure.

While CNN has reported that about 7.1 workers of the hospitality industry have been unemployed during the pandemic situation.
