PIA special flight brings 141 stranded Pakistanis back from Muscat
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Special Flight PK-8230 brought back 141 stranded Pakistanis from Oman ‘s capital Muscat to Lahore.
The flight was disinfected after landing at Lahore airport, and the passengers went through a screening process and later transferred to the quarantine center.
Today (Friday) another PK-8232 flight is scheduled to bring 140 more stranded Pakistanis back from Muscat to Lahore.
The flight gets to Lahore at 4:00pm. Pakistan’s government has started a series of special flights to repatriate stranded Pakistanis in different countries because of the suspension of flight service to avoid coronavirus spread.
At the other hand, the fourth PIA flight carrying 250 passengers departed for Lahore from New Jersey. Consul General Ayesha Ali has said farewell to airport travelers. The Consulate also checked the airport measures taken to protect passengers from any harm from the virus.
Speaking on the occassion Consul General Ayesha Ali said Pakistanis return is the government and embassy’s first priority. She also said that a special flight would be operated from New Jersey to Islamabad on June 1. He also said this would be the fifth flight from the U.S. to Pakistan.
More than 250 stranded Pakistanis returned from Iraq to Islamabad via a special flight from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) earlier on 16 May.
Passenger screening performed by a screening phase and returned to the hospital for quarantine. After landing, the flight disinfected too. Once they test negative for coronavirus, passengers will be allowed to go home.
