PIA, private airlines increase domestic fares amid Christmas holidays
The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) and private airlines have phenomenally increased their domestic fares ahead of Christmas and New Year holidays.
The one-way fare from Karachi to Islamabad of the national airline has increased to Rs36,000 while the two-way ticket between same destinations has reached Rs71,000.
Air Blue has increased the one-way fare from Karachi to Islamabad to Rs35,000, Serene Air soared the ticket price of same flight route to Rs38,000, while the Air Sial has jacked up one-way fare to Rs45,000.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has failed to control the increasing fares due to widening supply and demand gap.
The fares are expected to decrease after the Christmas and winter vacations.
