In one of the rare moments of its history, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Sunday took a flight from Manchester to Islamabad with only one passenger on board.
A man hailing from Gujrat was the only passenger in the plane with a capacity of 371 people except its crew as PIA took a chartered flight- renting an entire plane instead of individual seats.
A PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan told media that the Pakistani government granted permission for the chartered flight on humanitarian grounds after a passenger hailing from Gujrat requested the authorities.
Earlier Pakistani authorities banned flights from the United Kingdom in the light of growing cases of coronavirus’ new variant in the UK.
However, Pakistani passport holders who have travelled to the UK on visitor/temporary visas are now allowed to return to the country, but after showing a negative result of the coronavirus test conducted within 72 hours of travelling.
