PIA crew’s mistake leads to offloading 50 passengers at Beijing airport

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) offloaded 50 passengers at the Beijing airport after the emergency chute of its Boeing 777 was accidentally activated.
The emergency chute was activated by PIA crew. The incident caused the Beijing-Islamabad flight (PK-853) to delay by two and a half hours, said the PIA spokesperson. He said that PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal Arshad Malik had taken notice and ordered an inquiry into the matter. It is pertinent here to mention that an ostensible passenger on PIA’s Twitter handle commented that they had to wait for about nine hours.
This is the second such incident faced by the national flag carrier in 20 days.
Earlier, on June 9 a PIA flight offloaded about 70 passengers after one of the passengers erroneously opened the emergency door while plane was on the runway at Manchester airport in England. The passengers were informed about the cause of the delay and they were provided accommodation at the hotel.
