Philanthropist Bilquis Edhi passes away at 74

Bilquis Edhi wife of late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away at the age of 74 on Friday at private hospital in Karachi.
According to Edhi foundation’s spokesperson, Bilquis Edhi was suffering from heart disease and other ailments. She had been ill for a month and was undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
Funeral prayers of Bilquis Edhi will be offered at New Memon Masjid Kharadar after Zuhr prayers today [Saturday] while burial will be at Mewa Shah Cemetery.
Bilquis Edhi was the wife of the late philanthropist and humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi, and after the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi she became the chairperson of the Edhi Foundation.
Bilquis Edhi received her nursing training at the age of 16 from the late Abdul Sattar Edhi’s Nursing School. For her services, Hilal-e-Imtiaz was awarded by the Government of Pakistan while Mother Teresa Award was given by India in 2015.
Prime Minister and Chief Minister Sindh express regret over the demise
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Bilquis Edhi and said that she [Bilquis Edhi] continued the mission of the late Abdul Sattar Edhi to serve humanity. He paid tributes to the services of Bilquis Edhi.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Bilquis Edhi and appreciated her social services.
