 Petrol prices increase further by Rs30, petrol now at Rs209.86 per litre

The federal government has once again ruthlessly made an Rs30 massive increase in prices of Petrol and diesel, raising the rates to Rs209.86 and Rs204.15 respectively.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that the price of petrol has been increased by Rs30 per liter, after which a liter of petrol has become Rs209.86.

He said that the price of diesel has also been increased by Rs30 per liter, now the new price of diesel will be Rs204.15, light diesel oil has also been increased by Rs30 after which its price has been jumped to Rs178.31 per liter.

He said that despite this increase in prices, the government was still losing Rs8 on light diesel, Rs9 on petrol and Rs23 on high speed diesel.

The Finance Minister said that we estimate and realize that this decision will increase the hardships of the poor but at present the prices of petroleum products are increasing all over the world.

He said that the government would continue to sell sugar at Rs70 per kg and flour at Rs40 per kg to provide relief to the poor throughout the year.

Miftah Ismail stated that at present the government is giving subsidy of Rs100 on ghee and cooking oil at utility stores while subsidy is also being given on rice and pulses.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muftah Ismail had said that it was a difficult decision that we should impose more burden on the people.

He had said that in the first 15 days of this month, a loss of Rs55 billion has been incurred and this government cannot bear it.
