Petrol price in Pakistan lowest in comparison to several other countries

ISLAMABAD: Petrol price in Pakistan is currently the lowest in comparison to several other countries in the region.

According to latest statistics, the petroleum prices in Sri Lanka, China, Nepal, Bangladesh and India are higher than Pakistan.

Petrol price in Pakistan is 0.70 US dollar while in India it is $1.26, China $1.03, Nepal $0.95, Bangladesh $1.05 and in Sri Lanka $0.83 dollar.

The government is focusing on welfare of the people while determining the petroleum prices in the country. The prime minister has already rejected the summary for revision of petrol prices for three times in a row.

On Feb 26, Special Assistant on Petroleum Nadeem Babar had said the ten year LNG contract signed with Qatar was 31 percent cheaper compared to the previous agreements.

“It is the lowest publicly disclosed LNG contract in terms of price in the world,” he had said addressing a news conference in Islamabad.

The special assistant had said the deal would help the country save 316 million rupees annually. It will make a difference of three billion dollars for ten years, he had added.
