A petition for an investigation into the PK-8303 plane crash has been filed in the Sindh High Court.
On May 22, the ill-fated plane crashed in the Model Colony at Karachi, killing 97 people.
The federal government and agencies involved were listed as respondents in the petition filed Thursday.
This says PIA will ground all uninspected and cleared passenger planes.
The petition has asked the court to subpoena the PIA CEO and Civil Aviation Authority Director-General. It said the planes had been purchased during the PML-N tenure with the complicity of Captain Shujaat Azeem, now PM’s advisor on aviation, and then Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
The complainant wants all the PIA planes grounded until they are safe for flights by an independent organization.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar is leading a case hearing by a two-judge panel. The next hearing is on the 29th of May.
