Islamabad United beat Peshawar Zalmi by 15 runs
In the 26th match of the Pakistan Super League season six, Islamabad United have beaten Peshawar Zalmi by 15 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, the Zalmi won the toss and invited Islamabad United to bat first.
Usman Khawaja’s unbeatable innings of 105 runs helped the United add 247 runs on the scoreboard while losing two batsman in 20-over game.
According to official statistics, it is the highest score in any domestic T20 tournament in Pakistani history.
Moreover, Colin Munro contributed 48 runs, followed by Asif Ali (43) and Brandon King (46 –not out).
The chasing team were dismissed for 232 with six dismissals against the target of 248 runs. Shoaib Malik contributed 68 runs, followed by Kamran Akmal (53) and Sherfane Rutherford (29).
Islamabad United stand first in the points table while Peshawar Zalmi claim the second position.
It was the second league stage match between the two franchises. Peshawar Zalmi had beaten the United by six wickets on February 27 at National Stadium, Karachi.
Earlier, the PSL6 was postponed in March due to growing Covid-19 concerns in Pakistan. It was later rescheduled in United Arab Emirates which resumed on June 9.
