ABBOTABAD: The Abbottabad Circuit Bench of Peshawar High Court has released Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Mufti Kifayatullah on bail.
The verdict was announced by a single-judge bench comprising Justice Shakil Ahmed. Kifayatullah was directed to submit surety bonds worth Rs0.5 million.
Lawyer of the JUI-F leader, Muhammed Bilal Khan said that his client would be freed within a couple of days after completion of legal formalities.

On April 13, the Counter Terrorism Department of police had arrested Mufti Kifayatullah in Mansehra.
The district police officer Mansehra had said that the JUI-F leader was arrested for his anti-state remarks, under MPO (3), power to arrest and detain suspected persons.
On Jan 2, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police had raided the house of Kifayatullah and arrested his brother, brother-in-law and two sons in his absence.
Later on Mufti Kifayatullah took to twitter and termed the raid as an act of ”terrorism”. The police raid was conducted after the provincial government registered a case against the JUI-F leader for his “anti-army” remarks.
