KARACHI: A huge contingent of security forces was called in on Tuesday as people staged protest against demolition of Aladin Park and Pavilion End Club on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi.
Police and other law enforcers were present to protect the demolition work being carried out by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC)’s Anti-Encroachment Department on the orders of the Supreme Court. Karachi Commissioner Naveed Ahmed Sheikh along his team was also present on the occasion.
Protestors clashed with police as the latter fired teargas shells to disperse them after demolition work on the market adjacent to Aladdin Park began. The Aladdin Park administration has demanded from the authorities to present a copy of the Supreme Court’s order in this regard.
Among the protesters were traders, the members of administration of Aladin Park, club members and their families. They chanted slogans in favor of Sindh Police and Pakistan Army.
