“People in our society pity women who get divorced”: Maya Khan

Host Maya Khan shared a traumatic experience of getting divorced twice and how people in our society pity those women who get divorced.

Recently, talking to a YoutTube channel, famous Pakistani host Maya Ali talked about her traumatic life journey. From getting divorced to losing her brother to cancer, the host shared her transformation journey as a strong human being.

She started talking from the time when her career was at its peak. She was doing great on a professional and financial level. She stated, “I was always someone who never got fit in the rules made by society. I lost my father when I was quite young. I got married in 2011 but never lived with the person because he was abroad”.

She also talked about her brother’s cancer journey and she lost him during the same year. She said, “in 2011, my brother was diagnosed with cancer. I was working successfully on television at that time, but because of one of the incidents in 2012 I was terminated from the channel”.

Maya further said, “during such hard times, I also get divorced. I got thyroid and heart issues as well”.

Maya Khan broke into tears while talking about how divorce is considered as “kalank” in our society for the woman but she got the power from Allah to fight through that experience and pick herself up again.

She also shared a beautiful piece of advice for all the listeners “chose your health first. Choose your mental health first. Choose your heart first. Stop pleasing people as you cannot make everyone happy. I wanted to say this to everyone get up and take charge of your lives”.
