The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned the re-airing of the recently concluded TV dramas “Ishqiya” and “Pyar ke Sadqay”.

A press release issued by PEMRA said that PEMRA has taken action under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance for broadcasting material which is against social and religious values.

Both dramas will not be aired not only on ARY Digital and Hum TV but also on other channels like ARY Zindagi and Hum Sitara.

PEMRA clarified that viewers are registering complaints in this regard on daily basis on Pakistan Citizen Portal, PEMRA Social Accounts, and PEMRA Call Centers.

It was also stated in the press release that the concerned channels have been repeatedly informed about the concerns of the viewers and the dramas have been directed to confirm the content of the dramas in accordance with social, religious, social and moral values. In August, the letter also gave a final directive to make the content of the dramas in accordance with the values of Pakistan.
