PDM to seek vote of no confidence against CM Buzdar, warns Sheikh Rashid
While talking in Geo News show “Aj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath”, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said last night that the opposition alliance (Pakistan Democratic Movement) would launch a motion of no confidence in Punjab Assembly against Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
“I am hopeful that Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi (PML-Q) will stand beside Imran Khan (in Punjab Assembly),” Rashid remarked during the show.
Out of 368 seats in the provincial assembly, the PTI-led government has 196 seats in its favour with 181 MPAs, including support from Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid (10), Rah-e-Haq Party (1) and Independent candidates (4).
The opposition coalition has 172 seats in the assembly from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (165) and Pakistan Peoples Party (07) – the parties who are leading the PDM against the government.
Earlier, the government has faced a defeat in the senate elections from National Assembly as its candidate Abdul Hafeez Shaikh was lost to PDM’s joint candidate Yousuf Raza Gillani despite having a majority.
Prime Minister Imran Khan and the government representatives have blamed the opposition of horse trading during the Senate election while the opposition has said that the disgruntled MNAs have voted according to their will.
