Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) announces a long march towards Islamabad on March 23.
PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif hosted a dinner in honor of the united opposition which was attended by top leadership including Fazal-ur-Rehman and Asif Ali Zardari.
The meeting discussed the political situation in the country and the No-Confidence motion and made several important decisions.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, PDM chief Fazal-ur-Rehman said that the No-Confidence motion of the opposition against the Prime Minister was in the national interest. Instead of appearing in the constitutional and democratic realm, the government has resorted the path of riots.
He said that caravans from all over the country would leave on March 23 and would reach Islamabad on March 24. I formally call the workers of all parties to march towards Islamabad. The decision on how long the march would stay in Islamabad would be taken later.
Fazal-ur-Rehman said that there would be a grand demonstration of history on Shahrah-e-Dastur, all members of parliament would be provided security to reach the parliament house safely.
He further said that people should be ready to stay in Islamabad till the date of No-Confidence motion while PPP, Awami National Party and National Democratic Movement have been invited for long march.
“Constitution of Pakistan obliges the Speaker to convene the Assembly within a specified and explicit period. The first item on the agenda of the National Assembly is to table a no-confidence motion.” He added.
