Pakistan’s first Hemp (Bhang) farm inaugurated
Fawad Chaudhry, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, congratulated the Ministry of Science and Technology, particularly the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), on the establishment of Pakistan’s first hemp (bhang) farm.
The farm’s goal is to increase industrial hemp production in order to get into the multibillion-dollar global cannabidiol CBD industry.

Taking to Twitter today, the minister expressed his delight at the progress of this vital initiative.
He said that Pakistan is on track to become a major player in the billion-dollar hemp sector.
In September of last year, the federal cabinet approved the issuing of the first license for the medicinal and industrial use of hemp plants.
“Cabinet has approved first License for @MinistryofST and PCSIR for industrial and medical use of Hemp, landmark decision ll place Pakistan in billions of USD CBD market…..” tweet by Fawad, who was in charge of science and technology at the time.
People took to social media to express their views about the first hemp farm. Some people applauded the decision while for some it was laughter material.
