The Pakistani nation celebrates Defence and Martyrs Day today with fervor and zeal, to pay homage to the martyrs and ghazis who became a rock-solid wall to defend the motherland against the aggression of the enemy.
It was on this day in 1965 that Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation and the armed forces foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy.
The day will dawn with 31 guns salute at the Federal Capital and 21 gun salutes at provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr prayers in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country. Fateha and Quran Khawani will also be held for the martyrs.
Change of guard ceremony will take place at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi in the morning and a PAF contingent will assume guard duty.
