Pakistanis condemn US president’s approval to sale $735m weapons to Israel
Netizens in Pakistan launched a Twitter trend against the US President, Joe Biden, for approving sale of weapons worth $735m to Israel.
The weapon’s sale has been approved amid Israel’s recent raids in Palestine, which has claimed hundreds of innocent lives. Several US legislators including representatives of the Democratic Party have opposed the deal.
The White House in a statement said that Joe Biden had telephoned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and expressed his support for ceasefire against Hamas. Progress in Israel’s military attacks against Hamas and other Palestinians in Gaza were also discussed by them.
The death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip has risen to 212. In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry has said the grim figure includes 61 children, 35 women and 16 elderly people.
More than 1400 Palestinians have also been wounded in the Israeli air raids.
Meanwhile, United States lawmaker and Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar, in a tweet, said that US President Joe Biden’s delay in expressing support for a ceasefire had caused the slaughter of children and destruction of lives.
