Pakistani wrestler Sharif Tahir wins Silver Medal in Commonwealth Games
Pakistani wrestler Mohammad Sharif Tahir bagged a silver medal as he lost to India’s Naveen in Men’s Freestyle 74kg wrestling event in Commonwealth Games 2022.
Mohammad Sharif Tahir defeated New Zealand wrestler Cole Hawkins in the semi-final on the basis of technical superiority by 0-11.
Mohammad Sharif Tahir’s next match for the gold medal was against Naveen of India and in the final he could not overcome his traditional rival.
This is Pakistan’s third silver and seventh overall at the Commonwealth Games, including only one gold medal.
Notably, this was the first international event of 20-year-old Sharif Tahir.
Earlier this week, Nooh Dastagir Butt set a record by lifting a total of 405 kg in a weightlifting competition and won a gold medal for Pakistan.
Nooh Dastagir Butt won the gold medal after an impressive lift on the sixth day of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in the British city of Birmingham. The 24-year-old had won the bronze medal in the last edition of the Commonwealth Games in Australia’s Gold Coast 4 years ago.
