Pakistani player wins silver medal in British Virtual Rowing Championship

KARACHI: A Pakistani player, Muhammed Shahzad, has won silver medal in British Virtual Rowing Championship 2021.
The 60-year-old man is the father of two famous young Pakistani female athletes, Mahoor Shahzad and Rabia Shahzad. Mahoor is badminton champion, while Rabia is international woman power lifter.
The Pakistani player stood second in the virtual rowing championship race of 500 meters, in the category of old people. People from more than 30 different countries had participated in the race.
Talking to media, Muhammed Shahzad said that achieving a goal in any age of life was possible if one had will and courage to do so.
“I am thankful to Allah (SWT) that He has given me a chance to win silver medal for Pakistan in such a big competition,” he said.
Shahzad has expressed his desire to promote water sports at beaches of Pakistan and in this regard he has made a request to the government.
Mahoor said her papa was an inspiration for her and her sister as well since their childhood. While, Rabia said it was a proud moment for her that her father had won a medal in the championship.
Rabia Shahzad said, “He is my biggest inspiration, motivation and support, whatever I have achieved and all what I have is only because of him, he is the biggest blessing I have and I love him the most.
“His double and at times triple training sessions in a day along with full time work make me feel like I am not doing my best. I haven’t seen a person more hardworking than him
