Pakistani man ‘tortured’ to death in Indian jail
Pakistani man was reportedly tortured to death in Indian jail as his body has been recently handed over to Pakistani authorities through Wagah Border in Lahore.
The victim was identified as 24-year-old Tagjee Meghwar who belonged to Kasbo–a village in Nagarparkar, Tharpakar District.
A local media report said that the deceased had crossed the India-Pakistan border two years ago. He was later arrested by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and taken to Jaipur Jail. The report also added that the victim was mentally unstable.
Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister, Veerji Kolhi, posted an image of a Sindhi-language newspaper on Twitter, demanding justice for the victim.
“When we handover them AbhiNandan, then why do we receive the body of a poor herdsman who accidentally crossed the border?,” asked Kolhi.
A local Hindu community leader has told media that Tagjee’s father Rawato Meghwar is a poor farmer who can not afford to travel to Lahore to receive the dead body of his son. The father has requested help from the federal and provincial authorities.
