Pakistan Wraps up T20 series as West Indies loose by 7 wickets
Pakistan thump West Indies by 7 wickets in their last T20 game making it a 3-0 win for the home side on Thursday.
At National Stadium, Karachi, the opening partnership of Muhammad Rizwan and Captain Babar Azam managed to put together a total of 158 runs after scoring 87 and 79 runs respectively. The 208 runs target was chased in 18.5 overs with a loss of 3 wickets making this the highest ever runs chased by the Pakistani side in international T20s.
West Indies after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, were able to put together a score of 207 for a loss of 3 wickets in the first innings. The skipper Nicholas Pooran played a quick knock of 37 of 64 balls, with contributions from Brandon King and Shamarah Brooks, both scoring 43 and 49 respectively.
The danger of covid-19 loomed large over the entire series and the final match was about to be called off after five members, including 3 players of the touring side were tested positive for the virus.
After six payers ruled out of the series the West Indies side agreed to play as the remaining 14 members of the visitors tested negative.
The series saw Gudakesh Motie make his debut for the West Indies at age 26, while Darren Bravo was also included in the playing 11. Players, Shai Hope and Akeal Hosein could not play any further part after testing positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, in the Pakistani camp fast bowlers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi were replaced by Muhammad Hasnain and Shahnawaz Dahani. The Greens were able to defeat West Indies by 63 runs in the first match and by 9 runs in the second making it a 3-0 series win.
