Pakistan women cricketers to tour South Africa next month
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule of visit of Pakistan women cricket team to South Africa for three ODIs and three T20 matches in Durban and Pietermaritzburg from 20th January to 3rd February.
Pakistan, to be featured in the ICC World Cup Qualifier in July 2021 along with the already qualified teams of England, Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa.
Durban city will be holding the first ODI on 20th January and third T20 on 3rd February, the teams will move to Pietermaritzburg for the third ODI and the first two T20s, 26th, 29th and 31st the same month. Around a group of 18 people will be playing which is going to be announced on 31st of December 2020.
For better achievements and results, 27 women cricketers are invited to Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi from 20th December for training and practicing camp.
Covid-19 precautions are strictly to be followed, two negative tests consecutively would be required before joining the camp and the players will remain in an uninfected environment during training.
Muhammad Kamran Hussain will be the assistant coach to the head coach David Hemp and bowling coaching Arshad Khan.
This would be the second tour of Pakistan Women cricket team to South Africa within 18 months only that really counts in a great achievement.
According to Urooj Mumtaz, Women’s chief selector and head of the women’s cricket says: To maintain the built up image and to grab people’s interest has been a real task during this crucial time.
She further adds, that this platform would definitely help in furnishing qualities and standards for June’s ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2021 .
