Pakistan to host World Environment Day 2021 for the first time
Pakistan will host World Environment Day 2021 with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), on June 5.
The Prime Minister will conduct the World Environment Conference virtually in Islamabad on the night of June 4.
For the First time in histrory, World Environment Day is getting hosted by Pakistan.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres, Pope Francis, and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be a part of the conference.
Moreover, the conference will discuss climate change, 10 Billion Trees Tsunami Programme, Clean Green Pakistan, the Electric Vehicle Policy, National Parks, and Green jobs.
Earlier, in 2020, China hosted the international conference on World Environment Day.
The World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
