 Pakistan to fine ‘overstaying’ foreign nationals from January 01

Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Thursday said the amnesty scheme granted to illegal residents will end on December 31 and fine will be imposed from January 01, on the foreigners overstaying their visas.

Taking to twitter, interior minister wrote: “The amnesty scheme granted to illegal residents in Pakistan expires on December 31st.”

The amnesty scheme granted to illegal residents in Pakistan expires on December 31st. Consequently, those overstaying in Pakistan will be fined, and the names of those who have overstayed for more than a year will be added to the blacklist.

He added that those foreign national who are overstaying in Pakistan will be fined for their illegal act.

Sanaullah further warned to add the names of overstaying foreigners in the blacklist, which will bar them to enter in the country forever.

“The names of those who have overstayed for more than a year will be added to the blacklist,” he said.

Earlier, a general amnesty was approved for overstaying foreigners to exit Pakistan without paying overstay charges with a cut-off date of 31st December 2022.

As per foreigners Act 1946, three-year sentence can be awarded to overstaying foreigners.
