Pakistan – TTP ceasefire announced by Fawad Chaudhry

An agreement for a ceasefire between Pakistan and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been reached as announced by Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
Federal Minister in a video message mentioned that the negotiations of government with TTP are happening according to the constitutions.
Fawad Chaudhry went on to say “local people will be taken into confidence for the negotiations and affected citizens will not be left alone.”
The negotiations news was previously announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan in an interview with a Turkish media outlet (TRT World). PM mentioned that Pakistan was in talks with some of the groups of TTP and the negotiation talks were held in Afghanistan with the accommodation of the Afghan Taliban.

After Prime Minister’s revelation, there was news that some groups of TTP organizations had announced a ceasefire till October 20.
Earlier on November 6, media sources revealed that Pakistan negotiated with TTP in Afghanistan, and reached a truce for a ceasefire after the release of militant organization prisoners from Pakistan’s captivity.
As per the sources, the Taliban asked for five of their senior leaders to be released by Pakistan’s government so the Taliban can feel that Pakistan is “serious” about the negotiation and agreements. Pakistan has offered to release at least 100 prisoners of TTP including the five senior leaders to show their seriousness about the ongoing negotiation.
As of now, no prisoners have been released because there were some issues in the process and the transfer of prisoners to Afghanistan from where the prisoners will be released fully. Sources revealed that so many prisoners had no contact with their family members but after 13 years they were allowed to call their families.
Opposition members of the parliament have reservations regarding the negotiations and they demand that opposition should be taken into confidence regarding the ongoing talks.
