Pakistan, Spain agree to enhance defence cooperation
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Spain on Friday acknowledged the need to enhance defence cooperation between the two countries.
The understanding came during a meeting between Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and Ambassador of Spain Manuel Duran Gimenez-Rico in Islamabad.
Pervez Khattak said collaboration to address global challenges, such as terrorism, extremism, illegal immigration and drug trafficking was an important part of v bilateral relations with Spain.
The two sides acknowledged the need to enhance defence cooperation between the two countries.
The Defense Minister also mentioned that a memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation between Pakistan and Spain is at advance stage.
The Defence Minister invited Spanish military to join in training collaboration ventures and multilateral maritime exercise AMAN.
ON Jan 14, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal, Mujahid Anwar Khan had called on King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in Bahrain.
During the meeting, King Hamad had expressed his satisfaction on the degree of fraternal ties between Pakistan and Bahrain and on bilateral cooperation.
He had also expressed Bahrain’s wish to further enhance security cooperation with Pakistan in general, and air force in particular.
The Air Chief had also met with General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Slaman Al Khalifa, National Guard Commander and Lieutenant General Dhiyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, Chief of Staff, Bahrain Defense Force.
The Air Chief had provided Bahrain Air Force assistance in military training and aviation sectors.
