Pakistan reports third polio case of the year

A one-year-old boy from North Waziristan was left paralyzed by wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in the third such case reported in Pakistan this year.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health confirmed that a third case of polio had been reported in North Waziristan. A one-year-old child has been diagnosed with polio in North Waziristan.
Health Ministry spokesman said it was “extremely worrying” that a third polio case had been reported this year.
Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel has said in this regard that not eradicating polio as a nation is a great tragedy, a single case of polio is a great loss for us.
Abdul Qadir Patel said that immunizations should be given in every campaign to protect children from polio. Emergency measures are being taken to eradicate the polio virus.
