Pakistan Railways suspends 34 trains for indefinite period

RAWALPINDI: The Ministry of Railways has decided to suspend 34 up and down trains for indefinite period, in view of the fear of the Coronavirus.
A notification for closure of 11 (up and down 22) more passenger trains from Wednesday has been issued in this regard.
Earlier, 6 trains (up and down 12) were suspended for an indefinite period with effect from Sunday.
On Mar 19, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had said the government had decided to close down 12 trains from Sunday amid fear of coronavirus spread.

“20 more trains will be closed from April 1 (the next month) as a precautionary measure against the global pandemic,” the railways minister had said addressing a news conference in Islamabad.
Hhad e said the government had completed all arrangements for reducing rush of passengers and improved cleanliness at Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore and Karachi Railways stations.
