Pakistan Railways opens some ticketing counters as online system collapses
In a video message on Thursday, Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed announced the opening of single ticket counters at railway stations in some cities.
The move to raising the load on the online ticket booking system is being made. There are problems with the issue of the online system, Rasheed said, adding that it can not take on the load.
The Ministry of Railways resumed operations on Wednesday and only allowed booking of tickets online.
Now, however, single windows will be opened in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Sukkur, Peshawar and Quetta for ticket bookings.
At those counters, SOPs will be followed and opened Friday morning.
They’ll remain open from 8 am until 5 pm.
The policy of selling only 60 percent of tickets on any particular train remains in place.
