On Friday, the Pakistan Railways announced it would restart operations of five more trains across the country.
The operations have resumed in the Karachi Express, Rehman Baba, Shalimar Express, Sir Syed Express and Hazara Express. Tickets for these trains can be booked online three months before departure date.
Bookings can also be made via the Railways’ reservation office, where one counter will be available for advanced reservations, according to officials.
A Railways officer told all coronavirus precautionary SOPs at the reservation offices would be strictly enforced.
Passengers are asked to bring with them their own masks, boots, hand sanitizer and soap. The authorities prohibited the entry of unknown men, and constructed walk-through gates to disinfect passengers.
Previously, Eidul Fitr had allowed 15 trains to operate and take people to their homes in time. The government had given permission to run the Railways until 31 May.
For two months the Pakistan Railways suspended its services to monitor the spread of the country’s novel coronavirus.
