ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz on Tuesday said Pakistan had to pay a heavy amount demanded by Broadsheet in the wake of proper investigations against its ruling elites.
“The government will investigate the Broadsheet matter to identify the elements that damaged national economy,” he said in an interview with a local news channel.
The information minister said though the matter was 20 years old yet the government would have to probe the scandal shortly.
Lamenting over attitude of the past rulers in the country in the recent past, he said they earned billions of rupees through kickbacks and unfair means and then benefited from NRO.
Shibli Faraz said the leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), inflicted colossal damages to the economy of Pakistan through wrongdoings.
He said the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf government came into power on the promise of accountability and assured that accountability against the corrupt leaders of the PPP and PML-N, would continue till the recovery of the looted money.
