After the disappointing tour of England, Pakistan cricket team have won Twenty20 International (T20I) series 1-0 against West Indies.

Pakistan claimed the series 1-0 after beating the hosts by seven runs in the second T20I. The Green shirts scored 157 runs for the loss of eight wickets. In the seconds innings, West Indies were restricted to 150 runs with four dismissals.

The first, third and the fourth T20I were called off due to rain.

Rain proved as unfortunate for West Indies, following their successful T20 campaign in which touring Australia were beaten 4-1.

Earlier, the first match had been scheduled on Tuesday (July 27) but was later postponed to July 28 due to the concerns of Covid-19 pandemic, cancelling one T20 fixture out of the previously planned five.

Meanwhile, there will also be a series of two Test matches scheduled from August 12 till August 24, as a part of Pakistan tour of Caribbean islands

In their previous tour against England, the Green Shirts were not able to win T20 series after being trounced in ODIs.

However, before England’s tour, Pakistan had consecutively won three T20I series: two against South Africa and one against Zimbabwe.

What do stats say?

West Indies have suffered two 3-0 whitewashes in T20Is, one in 2016 and other in 2018. Overall, it is the sixth T20 bilateral series between the two cricketing nations. Pakistan has so far claimed four T20I series out of the previous five as West Indies won the one-off T20I match in 2011.

In total now 18 T20Is, Pakistan have remained successful in 12 matches while West Indies have so far managed to win three T20Is, while three fixtures between the teams have remained undecided.
