RAWALPINDI: Spokesperson of Pakistan’s armed forces, Director General Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar on Thursday said that Pakistan benefitted to a larger extent from the information provided by former Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan.
“The claims and allegations made by Ahsanullah Ahsan in an audio tape circulating in media were baseless. There’s no veracity in the claims of Ahsanullah,” Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said while addressing media in Rawalpindi.
He said that Ahsanullah escaped from army personnel when they were using him during an operation.
The major general said the armed forces benefited from the information provided by him against the terrorist organization he was associated with.
He said Kashmiri leadership was detained for last one year and Kashmiris were being extra-judicially murdered and pellet guns were being used against them. He said Pakistan army targeted Indian posts in retaliation of violation of LoC ceasefire.
The DG ISPR said India was involved in the terrorism being carried out in Pakistan. 46,000 km land was vacated from terrorists in Operation Radd ul Fasaad. More than one lac intelligence based operations were carried out in this operation, he added.
“We have no doubt on our potential against India. 17 percent of total budget is used by of armed forces of Pakistan and without compromising on quality,” he said adding that India was the leading country in expending on weapons and defence machinery in the world.
The spokesperson said that India was trying to fabricate demography of Kashmir. India targeted poor women and children in Kashmir, he said.
“We will fully defend Azad Kashmir as well. India wants to displace Muslims from Azad Kashmir. Wars are not fought only on the basis of weapons. Our enemies wasn’t to distract us from real issues through hybrid war. Attempts are being made to engage Pakistan on different fronts,” he said.
