KARACHI: Pakistani snooker player Umer Khan beat Indian Dhruv Patel in the first round of the World Open Under-16 Snooker Championships.
Umer Khan won the league match by 3-2. He won second league match against Irish champion Leone Crowley by 3-0.
This is the third consecutive year when Russia is hosting the World Open Under-16 Snooker Championships, a non-professional junior snooker tournament, since October 2017. The event is organised by the Federation of Billiard Sports of Russia (FBSR), and endorsed by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF).
The championship is being held in Tyumen, Russia. It started on August 18 (Sunday) and the final of the championship will be held on August 24.
Hamza Ilyas and Umar Khan are representing Pakistan in the event, accompanied by Shabbir Hussain Daruwala, as an international referee.
