Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets to go 1 nill up in the Test series
Pakistan have comprehensively beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first Test match of the series on Tuesday (today).
The day resumed on the fifth day, Pakistan got complete control on the fourth day which they utilized on the last day of the Test match to secure important points in the ongoing Test Championship (2021-2023).
Chasing the target of 202 never looked like a problem for Pakistan in the second inning.
Pakistan were reduced to 286 runs in the first inning against Bangladesh’s 330 runs, thanks to Taijul Islam’s seven wickets.
But Pakistan bounced back as the bowlers tried to contain Bangladesh for the least possible total.
Shaheen Shah Afridi’s five-wicket haul helped Pakistan to restrict Bangladesh to 157 runs.
Pakistan was given a target of 202 runs on the fourth day of the Test match.
The bowling momentum was later carried by the opening batsmen. Abid Ali and Abdullah Shafique scored half-centuries to give Pakistan a commanding position.
At the end of day four Pakistan managed to score 109 runs without any loss of wickets.
The national team needed 93 runs to win with 10 wickets in their bag to secure the victory in the first Test match on the last day of the match.
Pakistan scored the remaining runs with the loss of two wickets as Pakistan comfortably won the match with eight wickets.
It was a tricky situation for Pakistan after the batting collapse in the first inning but the bowling performance of the national team helped Pakistan bounce back. Later, the batsmen finished the job to cross the target set up by Bangladesh.
Abid Ali has been named as the player of the match for his batting performance in both innings. Abid scored 133 runs in the first inning, later he went on to score 91 runs in the second inning to give Pakistan much-needed opening stability in the batting.
