PESHAWAR: More than 3,000 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officials and officers of different ranks have been found to be involved in illegally receiving money from Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
Their names were also set to be included in Ehsaas Kifalat Program, however KP Inspector General Sanaullah Abbasi took timely action and foiled this plan. He has made all of them write on stamped paper an acknowledgment that they had illegally received the money from the government program. Most of the police officials involved in the scandal have been suspended.
A team has been formed under the supervision of Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammed Ali Gandapur and Senior Superintendent Police Operations Zahoor Afridi to further investigate the matter and bring the culprits to justice.
The money received by the police officials would be cut from their salaries.
