ISLAMABAD: Around six marriage halls and 103 restaurants have been closed in Karachi due to non-compliance with health guidelines and Coronavirus prevalence in their premises.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Friday instructed all the provinces, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to ensure health guidelines and protocols for public safety and health.
It also directed to initiate crackdown on violations particularly in restaurants and marriage halls as these two places were emerging as epicenter of disease.
Last month, Sindh Health Department’s Section Officer-III had sent a notification titled ‘Implementation of Micro Smart Lockdown’ to the additional inspector general of police, all the deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police in Karachi regarding imposition of micro smart lockdown.
“It has been noticed that the number of coronavirus cases has started rising. In this regard, it is a high time to further strengthen implementation of the standard operating procedures especially micro smart lockdown (MSLD).
“It is therefore requested to deploy police force at designated MSLD sites in consultation with the concerned district health officers,” he wrote.
