LAHORE: The Orange Line Metro train has been launched for the public today. Passengers are traveling for the first time after the inauguration of the project.
Lahoreites are enjoying a one-way fare of only Rs 40 on the country’s first state-of-the-art electric train. The train will carry about 2.5 lakh passengers daily to their destinations.
The train will run from Dera Gujran to Ali Town Raiwind Road. 26 stations have been set up on the 27 km track of the train. The train will complete the journey in 45 minutes at a speed of 80 km per hour.
The train will initially run from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. A large depot of Orange Line Metro train has been set up on GT Road in Dera Gujran area from where the train will start its journey.
27 modern trains for Orange Line have been ordered from China. There are 5 bogies in each train. One bogie has 60 seats and each bogie can carry 200 passengers.
