Opposition leaders start submitting resignations from assemblies
KARACHI: In accordance with the decision of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), leaders of the opposition have started submitting resignations from assemblies to their respective parties in protest against the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) MPAs Hina Parvez Butt and Zaibun Nisa have vacated two seats of the Punjab Assembly. Hina also posted her resignation on her Twitter account. PML-N MNA Mahmood Bashir Virk and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Agha Rafiullah have quitted the National Assembly.
While, PPP’s leaders in the Punjab Assembly, Sardar Iftikhar and Ali Haider Gilani have resigned as provincial legislators. Ali Gilani submitted his resignation to his party head Bilawal Zardari and said that to further the democratic struggle in Pakistan, he tendered his resignation.
