Opposition decides to constitute joint committee against govt
LAHORE: Leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League- N (PML-N) on Monday said that the opposition decided to constitute joint committee against the government.
Following a meeting the PPP and PML-N leaders said this in a press conference at Bilawal House in Lahore. The meeting was invited by PPP Chairperson Bilawal Zardari. They have decided to invite a multi-party conference soon after this Eid ul Fitr.
PPP stalwart Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the committee included PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Asif and Marriyum Aurangzaib. He said coordination of the opposition was going on for quite a long time.
“All the opposition parties agreed that the incumbent government is a trouble itself. A very serious legislation is going to be held in the assembly,” he added.
Senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that they would devise a joint strategy after consultation with all the opposition parties to launch massive campaign against the federal government.
Ahsan Iqbal said living standard of the citizens was growing low every day. Opposition believed Pakistan faced extreme internal and external challenges, as the government’s sole agenda was to take revenge, while 22 crore people were suffering from inflation and other many different issues, he opined.
He said the government was taking extreme steps against the opposition. Farmers and degree holder youth were also troubled, he added. He said getting rid of the government was translation of people’s desires.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said the press was gagged by the government by placing restrictions on journalists through different means. “PPP’s Khursheed Shah jailed for 10 months. PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz is also in jail,” he said.
He said NAB-Niazi nexus was becoming more evident with every passing day. “WE have to fight for people’s cause,” he maintained.
