Operations against illegal buildings suspended in Karachi over coronavirus fears
To curb the spread of coronavirus in Karachi, the Cantonment Board Clifton has canceled all its operations against the illegal constructions.
The spokesman for the CBC stated to a media source that the administration had cancelled all its demolition operations in Delhi Colony, P&T Colony, Punjab Colony, Gizri and Bukshan village.
“The CBC administration has decided to suspend all outdoor activities including the operation against illegal construction due to the coronavirus pandemic,” a spokesperson said. The drives will be set on a different time, he added.
He said the CBC Vigilance Team will likely resume its operations by the coming month.
On 6 March, the operations against illegal construction began. They were expected to begin their activity on March 17 and 24 at P&T Colony, March 31 at Delhi Colony, March 16 at Lower Gizri, March 19 at Punjab Colony and March 26 at Bukshan Village.
On March 10, the team had began demolition of an illegal building at Delhi Colony.
